According to a survey conducted by “Lancet Commission on global mental health”, Albanians are ranked first in the region regarding anxiety disorders.

In Albania anxiety disorders involve 3.56% of the population, as the survey made known.

Meanwhile, people suffering from depression are ranked second, amounting to 2.45% of the regional population.

Alcohol dependence comprises about 1.67% of the population, bipolar disorders about 0.67%, drug dependence 0.66%.

In total, about 13.8% of the population is affected by mental illnesses, according to the survey.
