28 Injured in Albania Protests, Including 19 Police Officers, Health Ministry Says

Twenty-eight people injured during protests in Albania received medical treatment on 18 October, including 19 police officers, according to the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.

The ministry said 23 people were treated at the University Trauma Hospital in Tirana: 17 police officers, a minor protester, a media representative and four bystanders.

A further five people — two police officers and three protesters — received treatment at the Mother Teresa University Hospital Centre.

As of 21:00 local time, one police officer remained in emergency care at each hospital. The media representative was admitted for further examinations and was reported to be in good health.

The ministry also said 14 people injured since 13 October remained hospitalised and were continuing to receive treatment.
