Albania Battling Active Fires in Kurbin, Gramsh and Pogradec
Albania is still struggling to extinguish large fires in Kurbin, Gramsh and Pogradec, although the temperatures have dropped by about 5 degrees in the recent days
Based on the data from the National Operational Center of Civil Emergencies in the AKMC, 14 fires were reported during the last 24 hours.
Currently, flames are active in Mal Bardhë village, Kurbin municipality, local government forces and 50 volunteers were engaged yesterday. The work continues even today by the strength and capacities of the local government; in the village of Sojnik and Tunjë, Gramsh municipality and in the village of Niçë, Pogradec municipality, for which the fire service is working for the final extinguishment.
Meanwhile, fires have been isolated and extinguished in the Mehaj neighborhood, Malësi e Madhe municipality; in the village of Dushkarak, Selenicë municipality; in Lekaj village, Rrogozhinë municipality; in Progjni village, Gjirokastër municipality; in the village of Blerimaj, municipality of Kavajë; in the village of Molisht, municipality of Berat; in the village of Pishë Poro, Fier municipality; in Novosel village, Vlorë municipality; in Vilëz village, Shkodër municipality and in Shetaj village, Durrës municipality.
"In the operation to extinguish the outbreaks during the last 24 hours, 246 operational forces, of the Fire and Rescue Service, Armed Forces, municipal forces, police forces, employees of the Administration of Protected Areas, forest service, volunteer forces have been engaged and 30 fire engines were engaged", announced the authorities.
