Teachers' Day Celebrated Nationwide

Teacher's Day is a national celebration in Albania to honor all education professionals for their work.

On March 7, 1887, the First Albanian School was opened in Korça, an event of major importance.

This was a great victory for the Albanian people, since until then, due to the Ottoman occupation, teaching was done privately inside homes in secret.

Its leaders were well-known figures of the Albanian Renaissance such as: Pandeli Sotiri, Petro Nini Luarasi, Nuçi Naçi, Thoma Avrami, etc.

Great contribution that these eminent patriots and activists made to the nation is evidenced by the ardent desire they had to spread knowledge among the people.

Since that day, March 7 is celebrated in Albania as teacher's day to commemorate that important cultural and historical event.
