Albanian Olympic Team Arrives in Tokyo

With nine elite athletes, Albanian Olympic team has landed in Tokyo. They strongly believe that can write history at the Olympics, where they aim for the first time to secure a medal.

The first to land in Tokyo was gymnast Matvei Petrov, one of the great hopes to reach the finals and with a little luck can enter the medal zone. The gymnast is going through a very good form and has not lost a single minute of training.

The red and black delegation was joined by judoka Indrit Cullhaj, while this Monday morning most of the athletes participating in the Olympic Games flew to Tokyo, including two well-known weightlifters, Erkand Qerimaj and Briken Calja.

The latter is one of the few athletes participating in these Games, who actually has a chance to secure a medal. Calja made a fantastic appearance in the last European, where he secured bronze medals in two races but after the Turkish weightlifter, Denar Ismailov tested positive for doping, Calja can now win a silver medal.

In Tokyo, the entire red and black delegation and all athletes have undergone strict COVID-19 checks, following positive cases that have resulted even within the Olympic Village.
