Alexis Tsipras Meets Albanian Minority in Greece
The leader of the opposition party Syriza, Alexis Tsipras, received in his office children from the associations of the Greek minority in Albania who already live in Athens.
In a dialogue he had with the leader of Syriza, the vice president of Omonia, Giorgos Tzomakas, invited him to officially visit the minority areas in Albania, as well as the Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis, who made his visit two days ago.
According to Tzomaka, regarding the situation in the minority areas, he said that very few things have changed since the day Tsipras made an important statement in Bucharest in March 2019, in a quadrilateral meeting between Greece, Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria.
"I know this", answered Alexis Tsipras, "and one of the reasons I did not accept the invitation of my friend Edi Rama was that I could never agree to organize parties without advancing the issues of minorities. Albania's European path must be combined with very important steps in the issue of rights, human rights and of course in the issue of the properties of the Greek minority because human rights and the EU go together, they are not two separate things. And we will support the neighboring country in its choice if, of course, it also acts in accordance with the principles and values of the EU".
Then Tsipras accepted the gifts made by the minority association, where among others he received a T-shirt with his name and date of birth, while he promised that the Greek society should be closer to the minority Greeks of Albania.
