Armed Forces Responsible for Gërdec Incident; Businessman

The former director of the MEICO company, Ylli Pinari, after testifying at GJKKO (Special Anti-Corruption Court) in a statement for the media outside the court, has stated that the Armed Forces and the contractor company are responsible for the serious incident in Gërdec.

According to Pinari, FA and the company did not implement the rules that were defined in the contract.

"The explosion is the responsibility of the Armed Forces. They have not performed any of the tasks that were determined by the legislation, the government's decisions and the minister's orders. For me, it is their responsibility as the operator who had to implement the rules that we had set in the contract", he declared.

He further added that "MEICO" had the duty to take over and deliver the ammunition.

"MEICO had the duty to take delivery and deliver the ammunition, that's all. MEICO's status itself is an enterprise that represents the interests of the owner of the goods, which were the Armed Forces, delivered the goods and all lek collections went to the state budget", stated outside GJKKO, Ylli Pinari.
