Average Annual Price Growth Fell to 2.2% in 2024

The average annual price increase in 2024 decreased to 2.2%, from 4.8% in 2023.

The highest level of inflation in the last two decades was recorded in October 2022, namely 8.3%, which is related to the Russian aggression in Ukraine.

The Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) published today the Consumer Price Index report. INSTAT data show that in December inflation was 2.1%, while a year ago this change was 4.0%.

The monthly change of the Consumer Price Index in December 2024 compared to November 2024 is 0.6%.

The annual price increase in December was mainly influenced by the group "food and non-alcoholic beverages" with 1.03 percentage points, followed by the group "furniture, home appliances, and home maintenance" with 0.32 percentage points.

Also, the prices of the group "alcoholic beverages and tobacco" were affected by 0.19 percentage points, the prices of the group "rent, water, fuel and energy" by 0.18 percentage points, the prices of the group "clothing and shoes" by 0, 14 percentage points, the prices of the group "entertainment and culture" with 0.12 percentage points, the prices of the group "hotels, cafes and restaurants" with 0.10 percentage points, the prices of the group "goods and services of different" with 0.08 percentage points, the prices of the "health" and "communication" groups with 0.04 percentage points each, the prices of the "educational service" group with 0.03 percentage points. The prices of the "transport" group had a negative impact of 0.18 percentage points.
