In his first speech as the new President of Albania, Bajram Begaj, said that this responsibility comes in a historical moment for country as Albania officially opened the accession talks. 

"Albania in Europe today is a reality. This is a blessing for the future. I recognize and respect what the government done so far, but efforts and desire do not excuse any failure. I will prefer that the opposition do not see conflict before trying to collaborate as the times we are living are the most unpredictable," said Begaj in his first message. 

He promised to support political dialogue and to serve to the Albanian citizens 

"We should consolidate the rule of law, democracy in order to guarantee basic human rights and freedoms, for a future that citizens deserve, youth want and children dream of," said Begaj.
