Bektashi Believers Hold Ashura Day in Tirana

The ceremony of the "Day of Ashura" took place on Tuesday at the World Headquarters of the Bektashis.

At the ceremony, the Leader of Bektashians, Baba Mondi asked the participants to "do good deeds and always help others", especially in the difficult times that the world is living in.

"In this way, living together in our culture, with the difficulties that this world is going through, wars, murders, pandemics, teach us to share with each other, love, bitterness, sorrow and the burden of difficulties that life brings us.

Start from awareness of yourself and do only good. Do only good and God will reward you. Fight bad habits and love life. The white souls of the martyrs of Karbala offer us his advice and virtues to walk the path of truth in every concept of life. May God bless us all, Amen!", said Baba Mondi.

However, Ashura is an important Islamic day that occurs on the tenth day of Muharram, the first month in the Islamic lunar calendar. Ashura marks the death of Husayn ibn Ali, a grandson of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, and members of his immediate family in the Battle of Karbala.

The word "Ashura" comes from the Arabic language and derives from the root "ashr" which in Arabic means ten, so the "Day of Ashura" is the tenth day of the month of Muharrem and very important in terms of the history of the prophets.
