Berisha Reveals Details from Meeting with Former MEP Brok

Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha has revealed details from the meeting held with the former German MEP Elmar Brok who had intervened as a mediator to calm the situation between the leader of the Democrats Lulzim Basha and Berisha himself.

In the meeting with Brok, Berisha explained that the German has asked him that the US and Brussels view this situation with concern as the former prime minister is 'too old' to take back the leader of the Democratic Party.

"There was no negotiator or mediator. There was a development, an EP personality, a friend of mine who collaborated with Basha, came to Tirana and I explained what he told me. He tells me: ‘Sali, the US and Brussels has a problem, that Berisha may be too old for this task’. My answer was this: My return did not happen because 100 people want it. It is a complex process, involving a number of factors.

Secondly, the very fact that they may think who should or should not be the chairman of the Democratic Party makes me think about running and not accepting any intervention for anyone to determine who will run. In Washington, no one can talk about Berisha's age, when the US is run by those who are Berisha's age", said Berisha.
