Berisha's Lawyers Abandon GJKKO Hearing Session

Former PM Sali Berisha's lawyers, Genc Gjokutaj and Sokol Mengjesi, have abandoned the session of GJKKO, since according to him, their requests to exclude judge Irena Gjoka have been rejected.

Gjokutaj said that it was requested that the decision to set restrictions on Sali Berisha be sent for interpretation to the Constitutional Court, but this was also not accepted.

Since their demands were rejected, Berisha's lawyers left the meeting. Meanwhile, according to Gjokutaj, GJKKO will continue the session with state appointed lawyers.

The lawyer of the former prime minister, Genc Gjokutaj: "We appeared at the hearing today, as you know, we submitted a request yesterday for the dismissal of the judge and today we requested that they provide us with the audio and court minutes as part of the evidence to complete the practice and filing the request in the court secretariat.

We requested that the court give us a copy of the acts that the Court claims to have decided yesterday, and without knowing the acts, it decides to continue the session. We requested that the Court take the initiative and send to the Constitutional Court for interpretation the issue of restriction or removal of freedom, which justifies the non-sending of the request to determine the security measure, and the measures that have been taken.

The court decided to dismiss this request of ours and we decided to leave."
