Clashes Erupt Outside PM’s Office as Police Use Water Cannons and Tear Gas to Disperse Protesters
Tensions escalated this Saturday outside the Prime Minister’s Office in Tirana as clashes broke out between protesters and police during a demonstration along the “Dëshmorët e Kombit” Boulevard.
Police deployed water cannons and tear gas in an effort to disperse the crowd, while protesters responded by throwing fireworks and stones toward security forces.
The confrontation intensified as demonstrators formed a front line facing police officers, launching Molotov cocktails and directing laser beams at law enforcement personnel.
Some protesters were also seen emptying bags of stones onto the street, while chants of “Criminal Police!” could be heard from the crowd.
Despite repeated police interventions using water cannons and tear gas, tensions remained high in the area surrounding the government headquarters.
The situation continued to develop as clashes between protesters and police persisted.
