Construction of National Theatre to Begin in Autumn; Veliaj

Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj has revealed that the construction of the National Theatre will begin in the autumn. In an interview, he said that a 60-day competition will be opened that will last throughout the summer months and in the autumn the construction of the new building will begin. The construction period of the National Theatre, Veliaj said, will last two years.

"We've wasted a lot of time on the theatre. The property in Tirana has increased, even the opponent has become richer just by insulting us. Tirana's growth benefits everyone, we should all be happy when things go well for the capital. I believe that we should have a big pact, not to delay the work.

As for the Theatre, we will open it for 60 days, the summer period, and in the autumn the construction will begin, which will last 2 years.

As for the reconstruction in Kombinati area, it has been delayed because the prices of iron and concrete have increased. We were expecting price indexation to what it is today, we have recovered it with the decision of the Council of Ministers.

When an engineer says that the apartment is uninhabitable, you should not live there. We won 22 trials and the foundations have been laid.

Senseless blockages even on May 5. They will get 500 square meters in Tirana. These are Albanian wonders, I have not withdrawn and will not withdraw from any project. My concern is who wants to turn back time.

We have expropriations in the Sharra and Tufina cemeteries. Building inside a cemetery without permission is almost perverse. Waking up in the morning and drinking coffee with funerals, I don't understand. There is a bar in the cemetery, car tires are changed. One day I will die too, but it is up to the dignity of this administration to clean these spaces," Veliaj said.
