Dangerous Bacteria Found in 'Wudy' Sausages

National Food Authority (NFA) has announced on Wednesday that a dangerous bacteria has found in some products of the Wudy brand of sausages that are sold in Albania.

In a statement, NFA emphasized that the virus was detected after an announcement from the European Union's RASSF system regarding food safety.

Bacteria in question is called "Listeria monocytogenes", which if introduced into the digestive system can cause a multitude of problems. It is the species of pathogenic bacteria that causes the listeriosis infection. It is a facultative anaerobic bacterium, capable of surviving in the presence or absence of oxygen.

"Referring to the notification received from the RASSF system (Rapid Notification System for Food and Animal Feed), after laboratory analyzes carried out in Italy, the presence of Listeria monocytogenes STI55, constituting a risk with a serious impact on human health, was found in the product.

The National Food Authority, immediately after the notification received from RASFF, is taking all measures through official controls on food business operators to identify, block and withdraw the product from the market. Attention consumers! Do not consume these products, return them to the subjects where you bought them", communicated the NFA.
