Gazment Bardhi, head of the Democratic Party’s parliamentary group, criticized Saturday the Special Anti?Corruption Prosecution (SPAK) for failing to request the lifting of immunity for former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, despite new corruption allegations.

In a social media post, Bardhi said SPAK “has lost” by not sending the request to Parliament, even after announcing the seizure of a second luxury villa allegedly linked to Balluku. He accused prosecutors of waiting for Prime Minister Edi Rama’s political direction instead of enforcing the law.

On September 9, SPAK seized another villa in Palasë, registered under former national footballer Igli Tare, following an earlier confiscation of a property in Dhërmi. Balluku faces accusations of corruption, money laundering, and hiding assets.

Bardhi’s remarks highlight growing opposition pressure on SPAK to act decisively in high?profile corruption cases.
