DP Claims No Work Being Done at 'Sami Frasheri' School

Former MP of the Democratic Party, Jorida Tabaku has published Thursday another video regarding the construction project in the Sami Frashëri school and in the neighborhood "5 Maji" in Tirana, claiming that the work does not continue in these two construction sites.

Tabaku talks about imaginary construction sites of the Renaissance while asking some questions about the Mayor of Tirana, Erjon Veliaj. The fact remains that a year after the earthquake a total of 48 houses were built out of 3389 contracted for reconstruction.

"The footage below was taken this morning at two of the imaginary Renaissance construction sites. Where imaginary houses, roads and gates are built in 3D or airports that should have been completed years ago. But once the cameras leave the imaginary construction sites, everything returns to silence and squares of unfulfilled promises.

The fact remains that a year after the earthquake a total of 48 houses were built out of 3389 contracted for reconstruction. Like the new neighborhoods or airports across Albania, they exist only in a special folder on Arben Ahmetaj's USB.

Unfulfilled promises and this government are inseparable binomial. No matter how hard they try, the video montages cannot hide the failure and corruption that has accompanied every step of the reconstruction process. Today again I want to dwell on the procedure of demolition of the High School "Sami Frashëri" to address the mayor these questions that remain unanswered:

1. Why was Sami Frasheri rehabilitated a few months before it would be collapsed even though Edi Rama said it would live for years?
2. With what funds is Sami Frashëri being built? Veliaj and Ahmetaj said with EU funds, while the EU says it is not building any school in Tirana with its own funds.
3. Has the design of the Sami Frashëri school been announced in the March 27 bulletin and canceled on April 21? This means that when it was demolished on April 24 there was no project…
4. In which register did the completed tender procedure for the Sami Frashëri school end? Why has it not been made public?

Edi Rama and Erion Veliaj should also have the answer to why their schools cost EUR 4.5m and those of EU cost EUR 700.000," said Tabaku.
