Eiffel Tower was lighted up tonight with the colors of the Ukrainian flag, for the anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. 

"The aim is to confirm the unwavering support of the French capital for the Ukrainian people and its willingness to contribute to the reconstruction of the country," said a spokesman for the Paris municipal authority. 

The iconic Paris monument will be lit up in the colors of the Ukrainian flag until Sunday. In Britain, hundreds of Londoners gathered in Trafalgar Square to show solidarity with the Ukrainian people.

Among the celebrities who will give messages against the war are the English actress Helen Mirren and the Ukrainian singer Jamala, winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2016.
