Elbasan police busted this Monday a drug trafficking ring in this city.

30 people have been arrested while nine others were declared wanted for distributing drugs in different areas in the city.

According to the press statement, the distributors were operating illegally in the cities of Elbasan, Peqin, Librazhd, Përrenjas, Cërrik and Gramsh, selling mainly cannabis and cocaine.

Sufficient evidences was obtained against 39 distributors of various drugs through surveillance, wiretapping and simulated purchases. 

Five arrests were made in flagrante delicto, 25 others were detained based on measures determined by the court, while 9 were declared wanted and efforts are underway to capture them. Also, during the searches, several weapons and ammunition that were being held without a permit were found.
