Elbasan police have handcuffed a 29-year-old man who was caught transporting 10 illegal immigrants. The young man had promised the emigrants that in return he would send them to an EU country. 

The arrested is 29-year-old Shpëtim Memolla, from Peqini. He was passing on the Elbasan-Tirana highway with his vehicle type "Range Rover" where he was spotted by the police. Initially, the young man did not answer the call of the officers and left the scene. The police seized the luxury vehicle as material evidence, as well as made possible the arrest of the young man. 

"Pursuant to the tasks set out in the plan of measures drafted by DVP Elbasan, to prevent and crack down on the illegal activity of providing assistance to foreign nationals for illegal border crossing and their transit in the Albanian territory, destined for EU countries- Specialists for the Investigation of Illegal Trafficking in DVP Elbasan, after the information received on the operational road that a citizen was transporting in the direction of Tirana, some citizens from third countries, for illegal border crossing, caught and arrested in flagrante delicto the citizen: Shpëtim Memolla, 29 years old, resident in Peqin. This citizen was caught by the Police services, on the road axis Elbasan-Tirana, transporting with a vehicle type "Range Rover", 10 foreign nationals, for a profit of 50 euros per person, and did not obey the order of the police officer to stop. As material evidence, a Range Rover, a mobile phone and a quantity of money were seized," announced the police.
