EU Grants up to Euro 50,000 for Startups

Global Entrepreneurship Week, a 4-month acceleration program, brought to Albania for the first time the Global Circular City Lab Tirana program, supported by the European Union, the German Government, and the Municipality of Tirana, through the Circular City Labs projects, EU for the Economy Circulating and Liveable Cities, and EU for Innovation.

In a press release, the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) announced that this activity brought together entrepreneurs, representatives of the government and local institutions, civil society, and academia.

The participants presented concrete ideas and solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and waste and promote the circular economy.

The winning projects, which will be supported with grants to pilot their ideas in Tirana, include the elimination Reduction of plastic packaging in cosmetics, culinary, or trading units; Introducing the system for the reuse of glass bottles in the brewery; Ecological cleaning of clothing to reduce environmental pollution; as well as the organization of cultural and social activities using recycled and environmentally friendly materials.

As part of this activity, Circular City Labs Tirana has announced six winning projects of businesses and startups that offer sustainable solutions for the transformation of reusable packaging systems and the promotion of the circular economy in cities.

The winning projects will be supported with grants up to Euro 50,000 which will enable them to pilot their ideas in Tirana during the next six months.
