Ex-KLA Leaders to Appear Before Court in June

In the Special Court in The Hague, the hearing of the seventh witness of the Office of the Specialized Prosecutor, in the trial against the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), has ended.

Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi will appear before the judge again on June 12, when the presentation of evidence by the Prosecution is expected to continue.

The seventh witness, who has the code W-01236, testified under protective measures. The interview by the prosecutor Nathan Quick was done in a closed session since, according to the Prosecution, the questions were related to a special incident through which the witness can be identified.

However, part of the testimony given to the lawyer of the victims was held in a session open to the public. While during the morning, the testimony of the sixth witness was completed, who, like five others who testified in this case, had protective measures.

The former leaders of the KLA, whom the prosecution claims have committed war crimes, are being tried after a preliminary procedure that has lasted more than two years.

During all this time, ex-president Thaçi, ex-speakers of Parliaments, Krasniqi and Veseli, as well as ex-MP Selimi, are being detained in The Hague, while in their appearances before the court they have declared themselves innocent.
