Exports of Medicinal Plants Up by 14% in Jan-Oct
Medicinal and aromatic plants occupy an important part of the total agricultural exports of Albania. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development announces that, for the period January-October 2024, exports of medicinal plants increased by about 14%.
While the total agricultural exports for the 10th month of 2024 registered an increase of 18.8%, compared to the same period a year ago.
The total amount of agricultural exports reached 386,795.39 tons, reaching the value of Lek 43.05 billion.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare informs that the medicinal plant sector continues to have an important socio-economic impact, both in increasing employment and ensuring economic income from the export of these plants, which are in high demand in the added value markets.
More than 400 species have been identified as Medicinal and Aromatic plants of the Albanian flora, of which more than 200 species are collected and traded.
