According to the local media, Backa tribe, originally from Kosovo and early settlers in Fier are quite economically strong in this city, considered among the three richest families. A year ago there was a quarrel with consequences between members of this tribe and some people from Tirana, because one of the latter had harassed a granddaughter of the Backaj.
On the other hand, very close relatives of the 57-year-old are known as members of the 1997 gangs in Fier where there were also victims in their ranks, including Demir's brother. Demir Baçka was widely known in Fier for his stories from the past but also for his businesses which extended to the coastal areas in the south of the country.
Demir Baçka is the brother of one of the 24 victims of the notorious Levan massacre that took place in 1997. Medi Aziz Backa known by his circle as Buç Backa lost his life in an armed confrontation for several hours with the Roma gang.
Demiri results at least legally in the BCC as the owner of a restaurant in the center of Fier named "PIAZZA" in the street "Jakov Xoxa" of the neighborhood "Apollinia" near which the 57-year-old was killed.
Immediately after the murder that took place in the center of Fier, a vehicle suspected to have been used by the perpetrators was found burned in the village of Daullas, further complicating the work to apprehend the perpetrators. The killing seems to have been well thought out, as although it took place in a fairly populated area, thankfully it resulted in no consequences for passers-by.
Nevertheless, Backa was killed inside his vehicle, while there were several bullets in the body that took his life.
