The region of Fier was ranked as the largest producer of grain in Albania throughout 2023. The Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) recently published the report on agricultural statistics, according to which the production of grain in 2023 is 701,314 tons, while the Fier region has the highest level with 176,584 tons, followed by Elbasan with 95,572 tons and Korça with 83,889 tons.

According to INSTAT, in 2023, potato production amounted to 274,188 tons, marking an increase of 4.38%, compared to 2022. The regions with the highest level of potato production in the country are Korça with 68,428 tons, Fier with 53,583 tons, and Elbasan with 29,265 tons.

The slight increase in grain production during 2023 is related to the beginning of a tendency of Albanian farmers to cultivate wheat, after the price increase in the international market of wheat and flour due to the occupation of Ukraine by Russia.

Agriculture specialists say that the conditions for increasing the cultivation areas, especially with wheat and corn, are quite favorable in some areas of the country.
