FIFA Decision Revoked, Bajrami to Play for Albania

Nedim Bajarami can play for the Albanian National Team. The AFA (Albanian Football Association) has won the lawsuit in the CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport) and has announced this through a post on the official website.

The Empoli midfielder had played with Switzerland U21 and FIFA became an obstacle. CAS has already decided and Reja can finally smile.

The AFA had made a request to FIFA for Bajrami to be allowed to play for Albania, but it was rejected on the grounds that it had played 4 matches with Switzerland after turning 21 years old. According to the rules, this condition was the obstacle. The AFA then decided to pursue the matter legally and managed to win it in the CAS.

“Nedim Bajrami is now officially part of the Albanian National Team. The Albanian Football Association had started the procedures for several months to enable the activation of Eid with Albania, but after the first refusal by the international bodies, the Legal Directorate of the AFF addressed the International Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne.

After preparing the voluminous dossier, with all the necessary documentation, consultation with the best justice experts and many hours of work, the Albanian Football Association managed to triumph in CAS by managing to provide the services of a player who will greatly help our national team as expressed by coach Edoardo Reja.

The second international trial won by the Albanian Football Association, is undoubtedly a very important achievement for the football institution in the country, which shows that by preparing regular processes and working seriously, justice triumphs, as was the case of the international court for Serbia-Albania match.

The AFA welcomes Nedim Bajrami and wishes him great success with the red and black jersey", reads the announcement made by the Albanian Football Association.
