First West Nile Virus Case Registered in Greece for This Year

The first case of infection with the West Nile virus is registered in Greece, a virus which is transmitted by the bite of mosquitoes, which are infected by infected birds.

According to experts, infected people do not manage to infect each other, while there are cases when they do not show any symptoms at all.

Outbreaks of West Nile virus infection occur in many countries around the world, as well as in many European countries, every year. From 2010 onwards, cases appear almost every year, mainly during the summer and autumn months.
