German Citizen Accused of Fraud to Remain in Prison
The Tirana court ordered the security measure of arrest and imprisonment for the German citizen Stephan Morgenstem, for the purpose of extradition to South Korea. Through his lawyer, Maksim Haxhiaj, the German citizen asked for an lighter measure of security, such as a property guarantee in the amount of 2 million ALL.
During the session, Haxhiaj emphasized that Albania does not have an extradition agreement with South Korea. Stephan Morgenstem, 61 years old, who was arrested in Rinas while waiting for his wife, is accused of setting up pyramid schemes.
He allegedly set up various companies, defrauding 200 Koreans. The 61-year-old is suspected of having benefited 28 million euros from illegal activity.
