Govt Accused of Leaving Hundreds without School Building

Former Democratic Party MP Luciano Boci stated that Prime Minister Edi Rama has lied to Albanians when he said that he would rebuild in time the schools damaged by the November 26 earthquake.

In a statement to the media from a school in Kryevidh, Rogozhina, Boci stated that hundreds of students and teachers on September 14 have nowhere to start teaching on September 14.

According to Boci, the students of this school travel 10 kilometers to reach the other school, which is in poor condition.

"Rama promised that the schools damaged by the earthquake will be ready in September, but such a thing has not happened.

It did not happen here in Kryevidh, Rrogozhina municipality, as if it did not happen in Durres, Thumanë and everywhere where there are damaged schools because this government does not pay attention to education.

Rrogozhina has been included in the areas affected by the earthquake and in the reconstruction program, but the schools of this municipality are not built and are not ready. Out of 4 of them, from the data only in one is under construction.

The worst thing is that the students of this school travel 10 kilometers to reach the nearest school, which is in as bad a condition as the Kryevidh school,

Even this year, in the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic, there is no plan of measures for the transport of children, of teachers and no help with financial packages for these children with families in poor economic condition.

This government does not care about the safety of our children from COVID-19, nor does it care about giving them a sound knowledge that will serve them in the challenges of the future," Boci said.
