Greece, Albanian Arrested for Stealing Tourists
A 37-year-old Albanian man was arrested in Rhodes, after targeting foreign tourists staying in hotels and climbed into their rooms to steal everything he could find.
His action was revealed by a fingerprint found on the balcony railing of the room where an Icelandic citizen was staying. The woman reported on June 20 that an unknown person had climbed onto the balcony of her room, broken an unsecured window and stolen 20 euros from her purse. At that time, the Criminal Service had identified the fingerprint and the investigation showed that it belonged to the 37-year-old man, who was marked for theft by a similar method.
As part of the preliminary investigations, it was established that in the early hours of June 25, the Albanian had taken advantage of the short absence of a Swedish tourist, who was swimming at the Miaoulis beach in Rhodes, and stole her iPhone mobile phone worth 1500 euros from her bag. The security police have created a file on the perpetrator of the two thefts and submitted it to the District Prosecutor's Office of Rhodes.
