Greek PM Insists on Swearing-In of Fredi Beleri

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis made it clear to the Albanian media that he wants the oath of the elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri.

While participating in the proceedings of the Berlin Summit, Mitsotakis said that "Fredi Beleri has the right to swear even though he is in custody and I will make this very clear."

He added that he will discuss this issue with Prime Minister Rama and expects to resolve it amicably.

"Yes, I will discuss with Prime Minister Rama the case of Fredi Beleri. Our position on this matter has been very clear. I do not intend to interfere in Albanian justice issues, but Fredi Beleri has the right to swear in even though he is in custody and I will make this very clear. And I very much hope that we can resolve this issue amicably," Mitsotakis said.
