Greek Student Murder, Court Refuses Mitigation Sentence for Perpetrators
The Court of Appeals in Greece has taken the decision not to accept the request for mitigation of sentence for the Albanian and the Greek who are accused of killing the Greek student, Eleni Topaloudi.
The serious crime took place on the island of Rhodes in Greece in November 2018. Eleni Topaloudi was found dead in the waters of Rhodes. The file that has already been tried again on Appeal had as defendants 21-year-old Greek Manolis Koukouras and Albanian Aleksandër Luca 20 years old.
During the investigation, evidence and materials were collected, according to which, the two young men raped and killed the 21-year-old student. The file also contains communications of the Albanian and his Greek friend who talked to the student before she was killed.
Also, the security cameras on the street have filmed the moment when the Albanian appears in the car with the student. However, Alexander Luca and Manolis Koukouras initially accused each other of killing the student, although they admit that they were with him on the evening of November 28th.
Eleni Topaloud's body was found thrown on rocks in the sea. After being raped by the two young men, they tied her by the legs and threw her body into the sea. Forensic expertise confirmed that the death was caused by drowning. Which means that the student was alive at the moment when she was thrown into the sea, even though she had suffered serious injuries due to the rapes.
