Half of Political Council Infected with Covid-19
Two out of four members of the Political Council -representative of Socialist Movement for Integration (SMI) Petrit Vasili and representative of ruling majority Damian Gjiknuri- have contracted novel virus covid-19.
It was Gjiknuri himself who announced he got infected with coronavirus: "Dear friends! After testing positive for COVID-19, I have mild symptoms. In accordance with the health protocol, I started medical treatment in quarantine conditions. I take this opportunity to urge you to fully respect the advice of health authorities, such as wearing a mask, social distance and hand washing. I wish you all good health!
Meanwhile, the news for Vasili was provided by local media, which added that the vice-chair of SMI is hospitalized in a private hospital due to the worsening of the health condition.
Political Council is a mechanism proposed by the non-parliamentary opposition, supported by the international officials and accepted by the Socialist Party to draft an agreed electoral reform before the 2021 elections.
However, in the end, the parties didn't agree in all issues, and Socialists decided to approve in Parliament amendments in the Electoral Code with their votes together with the votes of parliamentary opposition.
