IQC Dismisses Prosecutor Dritan Gina
After refusing to be checked by the Republic Guard, prosecutor Dritan Gina tried to force his way into the courtroom, but was not allowed to, while the Independent Qualification Commission (IQC) announced his dismissal decision in absence.
While the chairwoman of the IQC body had started the session by ascertaining the absence of the subject, the prosecutor Dritan Gina was forcibly pushed between the officers of the Republic Guard and partially entered the hall shouting: "What is this session ?!", but the officers of pushed out in a few seconds.
Earlier, Gina was heard arguing with Republic Guard officers after appearing without an ID card and refusing to be checked. "Subjects are not controlled," Gina said. But officers said they were following the regulation.
The guard informed the Commission and the IQC body decided to start the hearing without the presence of Gina. While presiding judge Etleda Çiftja was reading the rejection of some of Gina's preliminary requests by another panel, the prosecutor pushed the officer outside and tried to force his way into the courtroom.
The judicial body with rapporteur Xhensila Pine and member Valbona Sanxhaktari proceeded with the announcement of Gina's dismissal, who had problems of wealth and image.
Dritan Gina completed his studies at the School of Magistrates in 2003 and was appointed as a prosecutor in the Lushnja Prosecutor's Office. Subsequently, he exercised the function of prosecutor in the Durrës Prosecutor's Office, commanding head of the Elbasan Prosecutor's Office and prosecutor in Tirana.
In May 2018, Dritan Gina and his wife, Rovena Gashi were suspended from office by the then Chief Prosecutor, Arta Marku, after the Durrës Prosecutor's Office launched a proceeding for concealing property.
Spouses Gashi and Gina challenged Mark's decision in the Appeal Chamber, but their request was not considered. While the criminal proceedings were closed without results, the subject's wife, Rovena Gashi, was dismissed from the vetting for "insufficient declaration" of assets.
