Korça is decorated this weekend by colourful carnival masks and dresses. In their 15th edition, the carnivals brought joy and happiness to the citizens and tourists who chose to see the performances of Albanian and foreign groups. 

"It is the first year that I participate in the carnivals of Korça, I believe it will be one of the most beautiful experiences of my life and I want to continue to be part in the years to come," said a citizen. 

"I chose the clown because I like him very much. Carnivals are a traditional holiday that Korça citizens celebrate every year. Carnival is one of the most beautiful holidays," said a child. 

There were participants from Serbia from these carnivals, who show their emotions and impressions about the holiday and the city. 

"It's the first time, it's very beautiful here. We are from Serbia and represent hope. I call on everyone to come to Korça for tourism, because it is fantastic here," said a girl. 

The Mayor of Korça, Sotiraq Filo, unveils that the beginning of the tourist season starts with the carnivals, where he hopes that the tourists will have this city as their destination. 

"With this festival we open the summer tourist season. Korça is actually a city that has extended the tourist season to 12 months of the year but we start the summer season in early June with carnivals. I hope to have a good tourist season, to have many local and foreign visitors to choose Korça as their destination, to have as many people, economy for businesses," said the mayor Sotiraq Filo. 

The celebration started on Saturday morning, performing in every alley and boulevard of the city, where it culminated with a big parade in the Old Bazaar of Korça.
