Kosovo New Covid-19 Measures to Enter in Force on August 20
The Government of Kosovo has approved this Thursday the new Covid-19 measures that will enter into force starting from August 20.
Citizens must prove that they have been vaccinated or have a negative PCR test in the last 72 hours, in order to enter bars or nightclubs.
At the press conference, the Minister of Health, Arben Vitia, said that the supervision of the observance of the measures will increase significantly. He said the measures were taken due to the large distribution of the Delta variant of COVID-19.
"Because the Delta variant has been dominant in most European countries, a wave of inclusion from this variant in our country has been inevitable. The rate of distribution compared to the alpha variant is at least four times higher. This variant dominates over 80 percent of COVID-19 cases in new cases. This forces us to implement the measures," Vitia said.
The new measures come on a day when Kosovo registered 1009 new cases of COVID-19, where the Delta variant seems to play an important role.
