Kosovo Visa Liberalization to Be Discussed in November; Czech Deputy PM
The Deputy Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, at the same time Minister of the Interior, Vit Rakusan has spoken at the final press conference of the 27 interior ministers of the European Union gathered in Luxembourg on the issue of visa liberalization for Kosovo.
Rakusan emphasized that Kosovo will be discussed again in November, and that most member states are in favour of visa liberalization.
Question: The Government of Kosovo considers that some member states are imposing new conditions for the liberalization of visas for Kosovo. Do you confirm this or do you consider them as modalities that need to be discussed and when do you foresee the final decision on visa liberalization?
Vit Rakusan, Foreign Minister/Prime Minister of the Czech Republic: Now is the phase of the debate on visa liberalization at the national level of the 27 EU member states. We have to wait for the conclusion of the discussions at the national level and the issue of visa liberalization can be placed on the agenda at the European level, at the Council of Ministers next month, including the debate with the Commission. I cannot tell you now the concrete terms of the end of this debate. But what I can tell you is that most of the member states are ready for visa liberalization for Kosovo.
