In the race are Albert Halilaj from the Socialist Party (SP) and Emri Vata from the "Together We Win" opposition coalition.

On his part, Head of the Democratic Party (DP), Lulzim Basha registered the party in these elections, but did not produce a candidate for this battle, while repeating the elections in Kukës will cost Albanian taxpayers 250 million old ALL.

On May 14, almost 52% of those who were eligible participated in Kukës. Safet Gjici was declared the winner with 2,000 more votes, in front of Berisha's candidate Admir Sinamati.

However, the new elections are being held after the resignation and dismissal of Gjic after the publication of the video scandal in the office.

It is suspected that he favored Alma Kaçi by offering him financial support on a project to shelter and care for stray dogs in the city.
