Llogara Tunnel Set to Introduce Tolls This Month After Final System Tests

The Llogara Tunnel is expected to begin applying toll fees within this month, marking a shift from the free passage that has been in place since its opening.

Authorities confirm that installation works for the electronic tolling system have now entered their final phase. On Monday, technicians carried out the last round of operational tests to ensure the system is fully functional ahead of launch.

Security cameras and electronic monitoring systems have been installed throughout the tunnel, forming part of the infrastructure that will enable automatic charging for every vehicle passing through the route.

According to preliminary pricing plans, tolls will start at 100 lekë for motorcycles and reach up to 5,000 lekë for heavy-duty vehicles. Passenger cars are expected to pay 250 lekë for a one-way trip, or 500 lekë for a round trip. Vehicles with cargo bodies will be charged 500 lekë, while vans and buses will face a toll of 1,000 lekë.

The introduction of tolls is seen as a key step toward maintaining and managing one of Albania’s most strategic coastal transport links.
