March 8 Celebrated Differently in Durres, Red Shoes for Fallen Women

On March 8, International Women's Day, the theater "Aleksandër Moisiu" in Durrës comes with a new initiative, with a tribute to all those mothers, sisters, daughters and wives who lost their lives due to male violence.

The stairs of the "Nikolet Vasia" gallery were filled today with red shoes, which were collected not only by the women of the city, but also beyond. They are a symbol of the loss of women's lives as a result of the barbaric violence exercised over them.

Dozens of pairs of shoes served today to once again restore attention to women and girls, who are a symbol of life, a symbol of the continuity of humanity. Referring to the fact that the region of Durrës, according to INSTAT data has the highest number of violated women, theater director Driada Dervishi stressed during her speech that the symbolism of today's activity is precisely the awareness of all about these shocking facts.

While the actress Adelina Muça appealed to all women and girls to raise their voices, to denounce cases of violence because they will never be alone. Raising your voice can prevent other cases of violence, can curb the murder of another woman. This March 8, the "Red Shoes" initiative comes for the first time in Durres.

Since 2009, the red shoes of Elina Chauvet, the Mexican artist who lost her sister as a result of domestic violence have traveled the world. For more than a decade, "Red Shoes" have come as a symbol of the loss of women from violence. At 19:00, the real stories of 8 women who have suffered or lost their lives as a result of domestic violence will be premiered on the Facebook page of the "Aleksandër Moisiu" theater. Renowned like Anisa Markanian, Monika Lubonja, Suela Bako, Andia Xhunga, Adelina Muça etc., bring these stories of pain.
