Prime Minister Edi Rama participated in the "Global Gateway" forum in Brussels, this Wednesday. Rama has talked about the integration of Albania to the European Union, where he said that marriage with the EU is difficult, but it is the only one that is worth it. 

"I come from a country called Albania, part of the Western Balkans. We have had to live with a sense of isolation, not in the terrible sense, but in the way we have been forced to feel. As second class citizens. 

The EU is a very difficult creature to deal with, so you must have strong nerves. Because of the frustration I think there are easy ways in other directions, but then I think you can't find an ally that tries to help everyone, and that is the EU. In this relationship it is certain that we will find many reasons to ask ourselves if it is worth it?! This may be the most difficult marriage, but believe me, it's the only one worth it. 

I want to tell you a small fact, I want you to know that my love for the EU and Europe is unconditional. We are surrounded by EU borders and our neighbours receive over €4,000 per capita from the EU. What we get is only 138 euros per person. It is a big gap that we fill with love, ambition, and ideas", said Rama.
