Almost all the men of a village in Mat, namely 18 people from the Lumi i Madh village have been arrested by the Police during an anti-drug operation.

Officials of Dibra Police Directorate informed that the police action started around 03:30 on January 27, 2022 and the detainees, listed as problematic persons, have been kept under surveillance since the summer of 2020, after the officers found some cannabis plots in the mountains of the area.

In some actions, the Police "failed" to catch the cultivators, because they used the rugged terrain and the announcements from the staff inside the Mati Police.

Immediately, some of them were arrested and convicted in Kamza and Bathore, but gained their freedom and were re-arrested in the above action.

"The action was aimed at executing arrest warrants for 19 people at a time. People accused of cultivating narcotics have been arrested in Tirana and the remote village of Lami i Madh, almost all with the same surname, Koleci", said a local police official.
