Mediu Testifies at Court over 'Gerdeci' File
Former Minister of Defense, Fatmir Mediu testified this Tuesday at the Court against Corruption for the case of 'Gerdec' tragedy where 26 people died and dozens injured due to an explosion at the weapons dismantling warehouse.
Albaniandailynews.com learned that Mediu required by the court to ask over this case the former chief of General Staff of the Army Forces, Luan Hoxha.
But so far, the Special Prosecution against Corruption (SPAK) failed to find his address.
According to the prosecution the cause of the explosion could be the flame caused by the contact of a newly welded cart with the gunpowder sacks, but also the possibility of not delivering the lighters at the entrance of the factory, or the contact of the cart's metal wheels.
According to the military expert act, the dismantling of large calibres could not be done at a close distance to the inhabited area, while the financial expert act calculates a cost of 59 million ALL for the transport, which was considered according to SPAK, damage to the state budget.
