Miner aged 50 Dies in Workplace, Fourth Mining Fatality in a Month
A 50-year-old miner lost his life while working in the Martanesh mine. The miner identified as I.T has arrived at the hospital without signs of life. The cause of his death is still unknown.
Just three weeks ago, three miners died in Selishte village of Dibra after being declared missing by their familiars. They were found dead inside a small mine who was property of Ismail Hoxha, who was among the victims.
In the last two years, at least seven miners have lost their lives and several others have been injured in this mine:
On February 8, 2019, a 53-year-old miner lost his life in the chrome mine in Bulqiza, after being hit by a stone mass.
- On May 25, 2018, two miners were injured in the chrome mine in Bulqiza, while working on the 17th level of the mine.
- On May 11, 2018, a 62-year-old miner lost his life after a rock mass fell on him while he was working in gallery D of the mine.
- In March 2018, a 66-year-old miner lost his life as a result of the collapse of a rock massif.
- In November 2017, the victim was a 20-year-old miner, while in October a 33-year-old.
- In February 2017, three Chinese miners were trapped for several days and then pulled out dead from the chrome mine in Bulqiza. They lost their lives as a result of a gas explosion. Three other miners were injured during the accident.
Despite the deaths of many miners in the Bulqiza chrome mines, no administrators or owners of concession companies have been prosecuted in the last three years.
