Minister Calls on Albanians to Save Electricity amid Crisis
In the conditions of an energy crisis and its deterioration is expected in the fall, Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku has launched an awareness campaign.
In a video shared on social networks, Balluku advises citizens to save energy. The video gives recommendations on how to use the washing machine. Advice includes using it as little as possible during the week and washing clothes at 30 degrees.
"We save energy to have it!" writes Balluku. The price of electricity reached record levels during Monday on the stock exchange. A megawatt is sold for up to 800 euros at peak times, recording drastic increases.
Meanwhile, after the cancellation of several tenders, the Albanian Electric Energy Corporation has purchased about 3,600 MHE of electricity with a value of 2 million euros. This quantity is less than the one requested in the opening of the procedures, while it was purchased at an average price that varies according to the bands from 525-671 euros per megawatt.
The government has decided to restore the bandages for electricity billing since October. All family members who will exceed the band of 800 kah will buy the energy at the market price. Meanwhile, the expectations are that the water level in the cascade will improve from the autumn rains.
