The air base of Kucova was part of the discussions between the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken and the Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama.

At the joint press conference after the meeting, Blinken said that the new base will be ready next month thanks to the support of all the NATO-s countries. 

He appreciated the role of Rama and the contribute that Albania gave to Ukraine, since the beginning of the war.

"We talked about the hard work for Ukraine. We also discussed today the challenges we face on security issues. Albania has been a supporter of Ukraine and was among the first countries to send weapons to face Russian aggression. During 15 years in NATO, Albania has made an essential contribution," said Blinken.
