New Archbishop of Orthodox Church to Be Elected Sunday

Today, the Orthodox Church in Albania is expected to choose the new Archbishop in Albania.

The process will kicks off during the Sunday's mass where there will be the believers and other supporters of the church.

After the end of the mass, the election process will begin, and as soon as the voting is over, the name of the new Archbishop will be announced.

The latter will be welcomed with a special ceremony and will enter the Cathedral, while its bells and those of all Orthodox churches in Albania will ring in honor of this historic moment.

Then, the new Archbishop will deliver a message to all the believers. He will succeed Archbishop Anastasios in this high office, who passed away in January of this year.

In his will, Anastasios expressed the desire that the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania have an Albanian cleric at its head.
