The new head of the diplomatic mission of Algeria in Tirana, Mr. Abdelouahab Saidani, paid a courtesy visit to Albanian Daily News premises on Tuesday, January 30th, 2024. Mr. Saidani, who kicked off his new office on December 1, 2023, was welcomed by the general manager of ADN, Anisa Skendaj, and the editor-in-chief Alqi Koçiko.

Expressing appreciation for the work of the Albanian Daily News, the Algerian friend also spoke about his new task, the mission of which is, as Mr. Saidani said, the intensification of bilateral relations in all areas of common interest but also the strengthening of the ties between the two peoples. "During my stay in Tirana, I noticed that Albanians and Algerians have a lot in common. Historically speaking, Algeria will always be grateful to Albania for its stance during our fight for independence," said Mr. Saidani.

For her part, ADN general manager Anisa Skendaj presented an overview of the now 30-year history of the presence of Albanian Daily News in the Albanian media market and spoke about the challenges faced by the media in this era of rapid technological transformations. Editor-in-Chief Alqi Koçiko emphasized the readiness to cooperate with the Algerian mission and, on this occasion, underlined the gratitude for the support that the diplomatic corps in Tirana has continuously given to the Albanian Daily News, as the only possibility for the ADN staff to continue its mission as an independent, serious and unbiased media, not affiliated to any political party.

In this occasion, Mr. Saidani, the head of the diplomatic mission of Algeria in Tirana, handed to the general manager Mrs. Skendaj, the invitation for media coverage concerning the 7th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), to be held in Algiers, from February 29th to March 2nd, 2024.
