New Llogara Tunnel to Be Ready in June 2024
Deputy Prime Minister, at the same time Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku inspected the progress of the works in the Llogara tunnel.
"It is very important that when this tunnel is finished, as we promised, in June 2024, all infrastructure works in the south of Albania will be interconnected. The Vlora bypass will be connected to the airport road, that is, the road that leads to the Fier-Vlora highway will also be connected to the Orikum-Dukat concession and Orikum-Dukat will be connected to the tunnel entrance of Llogara and meanwhile the Palasa exit will be connected to the Palasë-Dërmi road", underlined Balluku, while adding that the works in this tunnel meet the criteria of the European Union.
"This is a tunnel that meets all road safety parameters according to the criteria of the European Union and indeed in 2024 Albania will have what I call the diamond, the crown jewel of Albania's infrastructure, that is the Llogara tunnel", said Balluku.
In addition to the main tunnel with a length of nearly 6 kilometers, this work will also have an emergency tunnel with a length of 5.4 kilometers.
Both tunnels are connected to each other with 11 entrances and exits, while there will also be 6 rest stops, as an opportunity or need to be used by drivers.
