Northern Kosovo Saw 'Calm' Night after Sunday's Major Incident

Sunday night in the north of Kosovo was calm and without any incident, as the deputy director of the Kosovo Police for the North Region, Veton Elshani, confirmed for the Kosovo media. 

Terrorist attack against the Kosovo Police happened yesterday, where at 2:34 am on Sunday, the police intervened to remove two trucks that had blocked the road to the village of Banjské in the municipality of Zveçan. 

Upon arriving at the scene, the police faced an attack by a group of armed and masked persons. 

Police announced that they were attacked with an arsenal of weapons and hand grenades. As a result, police officer Afrim Bunjaku was killed and another was injured. 

Throughout the day, the Kosovo police exchanged fire with a criminal group that had moved inside the Banjska monastery. 

Until the afternoon, shots were heard from the areas surrounding the monastery. The Kosovo Police announced that there were about 30 uniformed and armed people. 

Furthermore, the Kosovo Police managed to secure footage of them inside the monastery where they were seen masked and uniformed. 

During the confrontation with them, the police neutralized three attackers and arrested one of them by the afternoon.
